Girls Track and Field Athlete of the year
Alexis Szivan
Amherst, senior
Szivan finished fourth in Division I at state in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.32, which not only helped her reach All-Ohio status for the fourth time in her career, but established a new personal record. She was also part of the 4×400 that placed 11th and the 4×800 that finished 16th. Szivan placed first at the Amherst Regional in the 800 (2:12.14) and at the Amherst District (2:12.40). At the Southwestern Conference Championship, she finished first in 2:14.39, breaking a record set in 1998 of 2:16.60. The 4×800 finished fourth at regional (9:30.84), first at district (9:33.66) and third at the conference championship (9:50.93). COACH OF THE YEAR
Jeff Holzhauer, Keystone
Holzhauer had two Division II state qualifiers in juniors Beth Plas and All-Ohioan Shannon Wargo. At the D-II Orville District, the team was runners-up and had eight events that athletes competed in at the Lexington Regional. Additionally, Keystone placed third at the Patriot Athletic Conference Championship.
