* For the record: It’s easy to claim Elyria Catholic has been the Cinderella of the Division III tournament considering its 15-14 record. It’s easy to assume Canfield South Range has the obvious edge with its 21-6 record and tough schedule that included the likes of Hoover and Walsh Jesuit.
But the Elyria Catholic bats have picked the perfect time to get hot, which was evident during the district tournament. They’ll need them again, considering Canfield’s offense will be prepared to pound out hits. If the Panthers’ defense can help pitcher Ashley Cascio limit runs, Elyria Catholic will only need to worry about crafting timely hits.
