Outlook

Clearview returns eight starters on each side of the ball from a team that won its first playoff game in 15 years last season. Needless to say expectations are high throughout the Clippers’ locker room, but they’re not baseless. Many major players return to the lineup, including quarterback Chase Christensen, running back C.J. Fleming and almost the entirety of both lines. It will be exciting to watch Clearview continue to make noise around Lorain County this season.

Player to watch

Quarterback Chase Christensen returns to lead an offense that averaged 32.1 points per game over 12 games in 2018. He’s back with with two returners at receiver and one of the area’s top runners in senior C.J. Fleming.

Underclassman to watch: Mason Argenti, a junior, is one of only a handful of non-senior starters but adds another layer to the Clippers’ offense at wide receiver.

Bottom line

IF: The Clearview offense returns to match the play of its defense, THEN: the Clippers could be looking at back-to-back seasons with playoff victories.
