Outlook

Lorain is looking to rebound from a disappointing 2018 in which it missed the playoffs after two straight appearances and handed over the Lake Erie League crown to Maple Heights. But expectations are high among the program. The Titans return all of their big-time playmakers from last season including quarterback Jordan Jackson. But with only eight returning starters there are plenty of holes to fill, most importantly on the offensive and defensive lines. Lorain hasn’t forgotten what it felt like to be knocked down from the top spot in the LEL and has turned it into motivation to earn back the championship and get back to the postseason in 2019.

Player to watch

Quarterback Jordan Jackson has a year under his belt, and after working tirelessly all preseason has been handed play-calling responsibilities. The senior’s got plenty of playmakers at his disposal, including Tyshawn Lighty, Daylin Dower and Savon Chavis – all players to watch in their own right – and Coach Dave McFarland has said the Titans will only be as good as Jackson this season.

Underclassman to watch: Junior Devante Jackson brings some size to the high-powered Lorain offense and gives Jackson yet another option at wide receiver.

Bottom line

IF: The Lorain lines can shape up on both sides of the ball, THEN: This Titans team will be hard to stop this year.
