Buckeye at Amherst

What: Nonconference game

Where: Mercy Health Stadium

When: 7 p.m., Aug. 25

Records: Buckeye 1-0, Amherst 1-0

For the record: After two winless season, Amherst found a way to emerge victorious in its first game under first-year coach Tom Thome. The celebration is over, and the Comets have prepared to see if they can have a 2-0 start to its season. Thome said that Amherst will have to play a lot better than they did against Copley, after they trailed 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Buckeye starts upfront, with returning Division III third team offensive lineman Ben Midea. The Bucks defeated Lodi Cloverleaf, 34-0. The Comets offense looked promising against the Indians. Running back J.R. Bires rushed for over 200 yards. The size of the passing game looked effective as well, led by quarterback Cole Norris.
