Matelski has served as Head Start director since October 2011.

She has more than 30 years of experience in early childhood education, according to a news release from the agency.

Matelski holds a doctorate in educational leadership, according to the release.

Matelski will work closely with departing CEO Jackie Boehnlein, whose last day with the agency is Dec. 15.

“The LCCAA staff, board and our many partners feel privileged to have worked with Jackie and are enormously grateful to her,” said Board Chair Gerald Pippens in the release.

Matelski’s appointment will be effective Dec. 16.

“LCCAA will be in very capable hands,” Boehnlein said in the release. “Shauna is a thoughtful leader who has a heart for service.”

Matelski said she expects a seamless transition.

“Jackie leaves big shoes to fill, but we have worked well together for a number of years,” Matelski said in the release. “I know our talented staff will continue their great work serving Lorain County.”
